Visit by 101 high school students from Uijeongbu Science High School, Korea

A delegation of 101 students from Uijeongbu Science High School visited Kyoto University, Uji Campus on November 9, 2006, accompanied by 7 staff teachers. The group was headed by Mr. Lee Jinbong. Uijeongbu Science High School is one of the science high schools in Korea and its educational policy is to train and develop students to become the scientific leaders of the 21st century.
Dr. KAWAI Shuichi, Director of the Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere (RISH), delivered a welcome speech and overview of Kyoto University, Uji Campus and RISH.
Following these, Professor James Jiro MORI of Disaster Prevention Research Institute, gave a special lecture on Seismology.
Then they toured 4 laboratories of RISH, the Solar Power Station/Satellite Laboratory, the Microwave Power Transmission Laboratory, the Xylarium, and the Termite Laboratory, where they listened to the explanations with great interest.
This is the second time such a large group has visited Uji Campus.
